NHS MMR Vaccination Service – Locally Commissioned

We are proud to offer the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination service, locally commissioned by NHS England. This time-limited service is designed to help combat the rising cases of measles in our community and increase the accessibility of the MMR vaccine.

What is the MMR Vaccine?

The MMR vaccine protects against three serious illnesses: measles, mumps, and rubella. These diseases can lead to severe health complications, including brain infections, deafness, and even death in some cases. The MMR vaccine has been proven safe and effective at preventing these conditions.

Who is Eligible?

This service is available to:

• Individuals aged 5 to 19 who are residents or registered with a GP in the London region, and in some cases, those not registered with a GP.
• We will check each patient’s immunisation status before providing the vaccine to ensure the right care is given.
• Pregnant individuals should not receive the MMR vaccine, but postnatal promotion is encouraged.

How the MMR Vaccine is Administered

The MMR vaccine is given as an injection into the upper arm. Some individuals may require two doses for full protection, with the second dose administered at least one month after the first. Our team will advise you if a second dose is necessary and ensure proper follow-up care.

Record Keeping and Notifications

We keep detailed records of all vaccinations, which are shared with your GP and the London Child Health Information Service (CHIS). If you do not have a GP, we will provide advice on registering with one.
